Non-reflexive sleep is when you are in a light state of relaxation or sleep without much effort. Reflexive sleep or deep sleep is when you are completely conscious and alert and also with no signs of sleepiness.

Stages Of Sleep

While you baby’s sleep is going on, he is actually experiencing two distinct stages: REM sleep or rapid-eye-movement sleep and non-reflex sleep or deep sleep. When your baby is asleep, his brain activity is not as steady as during non-sleep. This is why he is experiencing two distinct stages in his sleep – rapid eye movement sleep and non-reflex sleep. Baby crying in sleep is most likely due to his non-reflexive stage.

In the first three stages of baby cry in sleep, your baby is still not aware of the fact that he is sleeping. He is very relaxed and probably does not realize that he is not dreaming, waking up after a nap, or simply enjoying his time in the womb. During these three stages, your baby has no recollection of being awake or dreaming.

After the third and last of the stages, your baby will be able to distinguish between his two states. When the REM stage has reached its climax, your baby will wake up and start a dream like state. He will experience REM sleep and then non-REFlex sleep until he falls back to sleep.

If your baby is crying in sleep, he is probably suffering from a refractory period, which is the last phase of REM sleep where the brain activity begins to slow down and your baby is at its most alert. It is during this stage that baby crying in sleep is most common.

Cause Of Baby Crying

Some things that may cause a baby crying in sleep are: too many naps during the day or having too many drinks during the night, stress, sudden changes in temperature during sleep, loud noises, sudden jerking movements, light touches on the skin, noises while the baby is asleep, sleeping position, crying during sleep, rocking a baby to sleep, lack of enough blankets and bedding, and not enough breast milk, and changing the baby’s diaper, etc. Baby crying in sleep may also occur because you are tired and have been sleeping late or if you are nursing. Also, it could be that you have had too much sugar or caffeine before going to bed.

How To Help Baby Cry In Sleep

To help your baby cry less in sleep, avoid having too many changes in your routine and routines. When the baby is asleep, he will automatically fall back into his normal sleep pattern. This means that his brain activity is slower and there will be less of his brain waves such as alpha, beta, theta and delta. These are his natural sleep waves. You will therefore notice him turning off or waking up during REM sleep and going back to the normal sleep routine.

Babies can be comforted by singing, rocking, talking to them or even playing with them, playing with their hands or by putting one or both of their fingers into their mouth. If possible, try not to play with them when they are awake.

Sometimes, a baby crying in sleep caused by something as simple as a wet diaper or being hungry, so it is important to try to make him or her happy at times during this time. This way, the child will understand that things will be okay and that they are safe even when they cry for attention. Even if it is in a baby crying in sleep stage, parents still have to pay attention to their baby.

Another way to help baby cry less in sleep is to give him or her a small treat every time he or she cries, like a hug or a kiss. This will make him or her feel needed and they will learn to appreciate the act of love. This will give them a sense of worth and that they loved.
